Alex Pitt's multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media and sculpture, with the expressive drawn line at its core.
Working from memory and direct observation, her work responds to the Tasmanian landscape, documenting personal stories, family history and her sense of place within it. The figure in the landscape becomes a form of self-portrait and familiar objects like birds or shells embody the spiritual realm. Working primarily in monochromatic palettes with selective colour, her work reveals a deep fascination with process and materiality. Through this, Pitt creates a space where the familiar becomes mysterious, inviting the viewer into a dialogue between observation and memory, between the scientific and the poetic.
